I wanted to live on my own, preferably in the center or west of Den Bosch. When I came across this house, I was immediately enthusiastic about the location: it's close to the center, my family and my work. Although I found the rent a bit high, I decided to agree, given the scarcity in the housing market.
I felt quite ambiguous about the situation. The apartment is small and has no storage, bike storage or outdoor space, which makes the rental price of €1250 (included) very high. Still, I almost felt compelled to agree. I had the idea that if I let this slip, I wouldn't be able to find another home in the short term.
Through one of my colleagues, I came into contact with Jan, and that turned out to be a huge relief. My landlord came across as intimidating, which made me quite insecure. Jan took over the contact completely, so I immediately felt supported. He managed to allay my doubts by explaining everything clearly and showed me that I could trust it to work out. In the end, my rent was reduced by €300 and I received €2,700 overpaid rent back.
