I needed a new rental home quickly due to the end of a relationship. The offer was limited, so I couldn't make too many demands. Finally, I found a nice apartment in a good neighborhood. During the viewing, however, I was shocked by how small it was and that there was a shared toilet. The price was also quite high, even actually above my budget. Nevertheless, I decided to go for it, because there were simply no other options.
The apartment certainly had good points, but I found the price very shocking. For a space of 30 square meters, I had to pay more than €1100, even though my budget was actually a maximum of €1000. Since there were no other alternatives, I agreed to it anyway. After being chosen as a tenant, I was able to move in the following month. But after a few months, the high rent started to gnaw at me. Actually, I thought it was ridiculous.
When a colleague told me about her similar situation and how Jan had helped her lower the rent, I decided to approach him too.
Jan immediately took over all the contact, which was a huge relief. After all, I had no desire to endlessly email or call my landlord about the too high rent. Everything went incredibly fast: within a few weeks, my landlord came by to do a rent check. In the end, he admitted that the rent was indeed too high.
The result? My rent went down by more than €300. In addition, I even got back part of the amount that I had paid too much in the last few months. The whole process went smoothly and cleanly, with no hassles or problems with my landlord.
